Housing Accelerator Fund
Posted onThe Village of Duchess has received funding from the federal government as a part of the Housing Accelerator Fund program. With this funding the village has put together some initiatives to attract new residents to our community and, to financially support current residents of Duchess to add a secondary suite (in law suite, granny suite, etc.) to their existing residence.
Prospective residents can choose from 5 municipally owned lots that are being sold at a 40% discount. These lots are ready to go with servicing to the property line and, Duchess has eliminated the development fees portion of the building process. In addition, newly built homes will qualify for a $5000 tax credit on the municipal portion of your tax bill.
Perhaps bringing a new modular home with you to Duchess is something you have been wondering about. There are tax credits available for this as well. Duchess is offering a 2-year, 50% reduction in the municipal portion of your taxes upon occupancy of your new modular home.
For current residents of Duchess, they are offering the opportunity to add value to their home and make living more affordable. By remodeling your home to incorporate a secondary suite, a $ 2500 municipal portion property credit is available. And, if you would like to add a free-standing secondary unit to your new build, a $5000 municipal portion property credit is available.
